A Night to Remember: Mini High School Reunion at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City
A Night to Remember: Mini High School Reunion at Almont Inland Resort, Butuan City
If there’s one thing that never gets old, it’s the laughter you share with old friends. Life may take us to different places, push us into different paths, but high school friendships? They have a special kind of magic—they stick around.
Last April 16, 2023, something special happened. After years of chats, reschedules, and “sunod na lang ko, busy pa ako,” we finally pushed through with our mini high school reunion in Butuan City. We’ve been friends since 2008, and that night felt like a gentle rewind to the days of school uniforms, prom nights, and endless chikahan by the canteen.
The Venue: Almont Inland Resort
We chose Almont Inland Resort for our reunion—not just for its accessibility, but also for the cozy and relaxing vibe it offers. Located along J.C. Aquino Avenue, the resort is only about 10–15 minutes away from Bancasi Airport, which made it ideal for those of us coming from different areas.
The ambiance is calm, the place is clean, and the resort staff are super accommodating. Perfect for a small, intimate gathering like ours.

We booked a room for our overnight stay, and here’s a quick guide to Almont Inland’s room rates (as of writing):

The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, with soft beds and cold aircon—perfect for catching up after a long day.
The Reunion: Chika, Tawanan, and Catching Up
That night, we didn’t plan anything grand or extravagant. Just us, a comfortable room, and hours of pure throwback vibes and life updates.
We talked about everything—from work stress, love lives, married life, adulting fails, to “sino na ba yung crush mo dati?” kind of conversations. The room was filled with laughter, teasing, and that kind of comfort you can only feel around people who knew you when you were still wearing braces and passing notes in class.
It felt good. Real good.
Highlight of the Night: Pool + Baby + Bonding
Of course, we didn’t miss out on the swimming pool! Almont has a beautiful, well-lit pool area that's perfect for both day and night swims. The water was clean, not too cold, and surprisingly relaxing after hours of storytelling.
But the real star of the night? One of our friends brought her 1-year-old baby! And grabe—he was the life of the party. His little giggles and cute baby moves added extra joy to our already fun-filled night. We took turns carrying him, dancing with him by the poolside, and feeding him snacks. Sobrang saya. It's a different kind of bonding when you're with high school friends and seeing them now as parents. Full circle, indeed.
Morning Moments and More Memories
The next morning, we shared breakfast at Manay Maling’s Restaurant, located inside the resort. The food was simple but delicious—perfect for a chill morning. Coffee, eggs, garlic rice, and a lot more chika about life, career, and “unsaon nato pagbalik diri sunod?”
We didn’t want to leave just yet. But like all good things, it had to end—for now.
Why Mini Reunions Matter
This reunion wasn’t about the venue or the food. It was about us—reconnecting, recharging, and remembering.
Life gets busy. We all have responsibilities. But reunions, even small ones, remind us of who we were, who we’ve become, and the people who stayed throughout it all.
You don’t always need a big celebration or a grand plan. Sometimes, all it takes is a weekend, a comfy room, and a few people who knew you back when life was just about passing algebra and hiding love letters from teachers. 😂
Almont Inland Resort: Perfect for Reunions
If you're looking for a place in Butuan for a mini reunion, staycation, or even a family weekend, I highly recommend Almont Inland Resort. It's peaceful, family-friendly, and close to the heart of the city. Their pool is a plus, and the staff are friendly and attentive.
Booking Tips:
-

-

Final Thoughts: Friends Then, Friends Still
2008 feels like a lifetime ago. But when you're with people who made your teenage years unforgettable, it feels like nothing has changed. We may not see each other every day, and life may take us in different directions—but that one night reminded us:
Friendship doesn’t need to be loud. It just needs to be real.
To my high school barkada—thank you for the laughs, the late-night chika, and the memories we continue to build. Here’s to more reunions, more swimming, and more babies to carry around. 🥰
