A Cozy Food Stop After a Night Stroll: Discovering Shell Café Butuan
After a long day filled with activities — swimming, strolling around the city, and attempting to hunt for street food — my husband and I unexpectedly found ourselves in a cozy, chill spot na ngayon ay isa na sa mga go-to food places namin sa Butuan: Shell Café.
Yes, you heard that right. It’s not just your ordinary Shell Gas Station. This one comes with a twist — a mini food park located on the second floor, complete with warm meals, refreshing drinks, and a quiet, relaxing ambiance na perfect pang-chill after a long day.
The Accidental Discovery
Originally, we planned to grab street food sa Guingona Park — you know, fishball, kwek-kwek, isaw, and all those street cravings we love. Pero unfortunately, pagdating namin doon, sarado na halos lahat ng stalls. Maybe dahil gabi na, or baka holiday kaya wala masyadong vendors that night.
Syempre, gutom na kami after our evening swimming session sa Watergate Hotel, so we started driving around the city looking for food. That’s when we spotted Shell Station — the one across Guingona Park. From the outside, it looked like a typical gas station with a convenience store. Pero when we looked closer, napansin namin ‘yung signage going up to a mini food park sa second floor.
Curiosity got the best of us — and wow, what a pleasant surprise!
Shell Café: Not Just a Gas Station
Upstairs, you’ll find a small but charming food park setup. May ilang food stalls doon, including Wing Master (which specializes in chicken wings and silog meals), and Chat Time (perfect for milk tea and other beverages). What’s cool is you can also buy snacks or drinks from the Shell Select convenience store sa ground floor and bring them upstairs to enjoy.
Ang ganda ng ambiance sa taas. It's well-lit, modern, and smells really clean — walang amoy lutuan or gas, which is something I honestly worried about. I thought bago pa lang ang place, pero sabi sa amin ng staff, it's been there for a year already, and yet it still feels fresh, cool, and well-maintained. Super sulit talaga ang discovery namin that night.
Our Wing Master Experience
Dahil gutom na kami from swimming and walking around, we went straight to Wing Master to order. My husband and I both ordered chicken wings, and grabe — sarap! The wings were flavorful, well-cooked, and served hot. Hindi siya yung type ng chicken na puro breading lang — talagang malasa at juicy.
Perfect combo pa ‘yun with rice (because yes, rice is life!) so we ended up full and satisfied. We weren’t expecting much since nagkataon lang naman kami dumaan, pero Wing Master really delivered.
Honestly, we were supposed to pair it with Chat Time milk tea, but we were already too full. Kaya sabi namin sa isa’t isa, “Next time, babalik tayo, tapos with milk tea na ha!”

The Chill Spot You Didn’t Know You Needed
What made the experience even better was the atmosphere upstairs. Walang masyadong tao that time, so it felt semi-private. The chairs and tables are comfy, and the place is perfect not just for late-night meals, but also for casual dates, study sessions, or even small catch-ups with friends.
Plus, since it’s just across Guingona Park and right along a main road, madaling puntahan. Whether galing ka sa gala, sa office, or long drive, this spot is a nice way to end your day with good food and relaxing vibes.
More Than Just a Stopover
Shell Café is proof that you don’t always need to go far or spend a lot just to enjoy a decent meal and a cozy spot. It’s one of those unexpected places that turn into instant favorites — and now, we’re already planning our next visit.
This time, we’ll definitely try Chat Time’s bestsellers and maybe explore more options from the convenience store. Nakita ko may mga chips, sandwiches, and drinks na pwede mong i-pair sa meals mo upstairs. It’s a blend of convenience and comfort, and we’re here for it!
Final Thoughts
Shell Café in Butuan is a hidden gem. It might look simple from the outside, but once you step upstairs, you’ll realize it’s more than just a gas station — it’s a cozy hangout spot where you can enjoy delicious food, peaceful ambiance, and convenience all in one place.
So if you’re ever in the area and craving something satisfying — whether it’s chicken wings, milk tea, or just a quiet place to chill, don’t overlook Shell Café. Baka nga ito na rin ang next favorite spot mo.
‘Til our next food trip! 💛
